Mad Tv-Dot and the Psychiatrist--This Was Me Growing Up, But I Was Quiet at School, Even Though They Let Me Walk the Halls, My mind...l;asdflsjf

I went to a lot of tutoring growing up when I was in special ed.  What they do to us is wrong.  They give us all of the answers, don't address the real reasons things are happening, and we miss class time learning where a rock was in space 1 a million years ago in the third dimension by purple butterflies.  Our curriculum is schizophrenic.  These things have nothing to do with the normal classes we're in.  You should see the lists they cram down us.

Almost all of us have issues at home, and so you might as well teach proper behavior, not suspend kids for their temper tantrums. The more you do that, the more extreme they will get.  Many of us are wild and have no discipline. I conquered reading again by setting timers until I worked up to 3 hours.

I just did this chick's homework.  Her aid started to do that, too.  I am against drugging kids because many, like me, are poorly disciplined (yes, other issues have I but yeah that too).  She'll need it if she isn't disciplined.  I don't see her mother as changing attitudes around her.  J is a good mom but doesn't discipline her children.  The good news is that her daughter is good at the worst subjects that are worth the most like math and science.  She's probably behind reading comprehension-wise.  They need to stop her and work on those issues first.  School is all about passing state standards, but the children don't learn anything if they don't know the basics and move on once they are ready. That's what happened to me in math.  I couldn't read the word problems, but they kept pushing me ahead.  I was the fastest at multiplication drills in my younger years.  Issue? I couldn't read to my grade level until 6th grade.  There was no point in the years they kept passing me.
